The Buick Envision is Good News for General Motors
Buick, a brand that up to this point has touted its “all-American” roots, is now planning a Chinese-built Buick Envision import – and that’s a good thing, says General Motors chief executive Mary Barra. She points out that the opportunity for consumers outweighs the costs, making it a good business decision.
“When you look at the significant number of Buicks that we sell in China, to what we sell in the U.S., this to me is about providing customers with an opportunity,” Barra said in an interview with Yahoo Autos. “The business case wouldn’t be there to tool up the vehicle in North America.”
Generally, Buick’s business model and philosophy is to build where they sell, but in this instance, the Envision is incredibly successful in China – making importing to the U.S. an efficient and affordable option for getting the Envision to our shores.
