It’s hardly summer without a visit to the beach. The Plattsburgh City Beach is actually the largest freshwater beach in the whole country. You’ll find plenty to do here, from kayak rentals to good old-fashioned swimming, so pack a lunch and get ready to spend the day in the sun.
Lake Champlain is so close to Plattsburgh you can practically skip a stone to it, and it’s always a favorite fishing spot in the US. As the sixth largest lake in the country, it offers plenty of opportunities to catch something good, and some gorgeous scenery to enjoy while you’re at it.
Plattsburgh is home to the Battle of Plattsburgh Association, which runs The War of 1812 Museum. Here, visitors can check out the museum’s collection of old artifacts and learn about the history of the region and the nation as a whole.
There are over 2,000 miles of hiking trails in the Adirondacks, so tighten your boots and get ready to explore. One of our favorite spots is located just 15 minutes north of Knight Automotive at Point Au Roche State Park, where you can find trails through the forest and a lovely beach where you can cool your feet after a good hike.
You’ll find plenty of things to do this summer in the Adirondacks, so get outside and have an adventure.
